Simple Plan to Reduce Cellulite

While standing in the checkout line at the grocery store the other day I had plenty of time to stare at the covers of those tabloid celeb magazines. You know the kind that features every time Britney drops weight or drops a baby? Well one magazine in particular caught my eye. The cover, a collage of celebrities with cellulite. Cellulite on Celebrities?! In a world of Photoshop smoothed skin and edited thigh gaps we start to forget that everyone has flaws and cellulite is actually a very common occurrence in women.

What causes cellulite?

Cellulite occurs on more than 80% of women over the age of 20, regardless of their weight or size, develop cellulite at some time in their lives.  Cellulite is most common around the butt, abs, and thighs it is the a dimpled appearance on the skin.Simply put it is a deposit of fatty cells under the skin that creates this dimples appearance. Although it does not hurt and is not a health hazard most women just want to know how to make it go away.

How do I make it go away?

There is no one magic way to get rid of cellulite, however there are things you can do to improve your skin and diminish the appearance. Diet, exercise and skincare.

It is important to improve your diet when attempting to reduce cellulite. Try to reduce foods high in carbohydrates, sodium, and fat and replace them with foods that are high in fiber and vitamin C.  Vitamin C helps to strengthen your skin's connective tissue and can reduce the appearance of cellulite. I would like to stop here and note that having cellulite does not mean you are overweight, I have seen cellulite on glamazon models and on women who are fit marathon runners. However improving your diet to include more of the good stuff and less of the bad stuff can help!

Time to consider that unused gym membership you're paying for! Along with a  healthy diet, exercise will help you lose weight and start reducing cellulite. Cardiovascular exercises such as running swimming or cycling are great options. Time to revisit the stairmaster!  You will also have to include strength training exercises such as squats and lunges as these create lean muscle and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

So there are a plethora of products made that claim they can make your cellulite disappear which one do you choose?! Maybe you're scared try them or maybe you already own a medicine cabinet full creams and pills that haven't worked. Well as stated earlier there is no one magic solution to cellulite. Skincare will play a 1/3 part in this solution along with diet and exercise. When picking a product to add to your regimen look for one that has natural ingredients such as caffeine and eucalyptus that are good for your skin.
